what my colleagues and I can do for you
We exploit modelling, simulation and control to solve problems and improve the operation of industrial processes.
We are mostly focused on process control, energy systems and industrial
automation, but our methods and tools are general and apply whenever
dynamics is relevant; also, to widen our application domain, we are in
tight contact with the vast knowledge network of the Politecnico.
To give some examples, we have been dealing - and still deal - with
- power plant control, optimisation and retrofitting to reduce emissions,
- modelling and simulation of large-scale smart grids for optimised operation,
- control of containerised cloud and big data applications for fast and resource-efficient response,
- power/performance/thermal control of high-density microprocessors for heavy-duty applications,
- energy management in data centres,
- control of household appliances to improve their energy class,
- modelling and control of anaerobic digestors,
- optimisation of machining and manufacturing processes,
- combined modelling of buildings and their energy systems for efficient design and operation,
- application of dynamic modelling, simulation and control to asset lifecycle management,

We are well connected with the Technology Transfer Office of the Politecnico for an efficient transfer of results and competences, and with the galaxy of engineering spin-offs around our university to also provide technical follow-up when needed.
